The Lord Loves To Delight Us!!

I am always amazed at how the Lord continues to delight us! I think He loves to love us! :o) I had been trying to decide what to do about a coat for Karleigh Mei. Should I bring her one? What if she had one on...I wouldn't want to take that away from her...and it might be bulky to try and pack. What if I didn't bring her one and she didn't have one?? And if she didn't have one, what if it's very, very cold and we don't have time to go and buy her one right away? Okay...so you see my dilemma? I decided that I would have one SENT to her...and that way I would know for sure she HAD one. I emailed Angela from Ladybugs and Love and she said she could do it. Angela is just awesome! What a blessing she has been to our family! She went shopping for a coat for our darling girl in Beijing and also got her some pretty fancy pants too! She mailed it to her orphanage, along with a note from us. When Angela sent me a picture of what she bought, I was just so happy!! You see...I have been a bit "Hello Kitty" crazy ever since I saw a "Hello Kitty" on a shirt that Karleigh Mei was wearing in a picture. And from her birthday pictures my mom saw "Mickey Mouse" on the walls and went out and bought her a "Minnie Mouse" stuffed doll. I just KNOW that the Lord directed Angela to the "Hello Kitty" coat and the "Minnie Mouse" jeans!!

Thank you Father for delighting us in the simple things!!

A Must Watch Video...

We had our Gala last night and it was an incredible night! I haven't heard yet what the total was that we raised. Tom Davis was awesome to hear. What a heart he has for orphans! He showed this video that I cannot get out of my head. I hope that it stirs your heart like it has mine. Precious children who have so much hope. This is the time of year for GIVING and I pray that you will remember also the orphans.

Orphan's Ticket Home Gala

I am so excited....tonight is the "Orphan's Ticket Home Gala"!!!!!!! Our church is hosting it and lots of people have been working hard to get things done and in place for this incredible night. Cristie and Doug Martine have been working passionately to make this night as incredible as it's going to be. My hats off to them for going beyond the call. What awesome mentors they have been for us during this journey!! We first met Cristie when she was at the first AWAA seminar we went to. The Lord has blessed us with their friendship! It was NO mistake when the Lord led us to that AWAA seminar almost two years ago.

Okay...on to the Gala. Tonight's Gala will be to raise funds for these four initiatives:

Identity for Orphans in China & El Salvador
3,780 children given the opportunity for a "home"

One of the greatest challenges orphans face is they do not have the necessary paperwork in order to be adopted. With your support, America World is undertaking a new initiative to make children "paper-ready" in countries such as China and El Salvador. Through this program, we hope to provide the necessary legal services and documentation to help orphaned children overcome this problem and become eligible for adoption. What's more, documentation for children is crucial for those who will not be adopted as well. Simple basic documents, such as a birth certificate, provide children a ticket to a better education and health care. Purchasing one ticket provides identity papers for one child in El Salvador and up to four children in China.

Opening America World Adoption programs in Bolivia, Brazil, India, Rwanda, and Vietnam
585 children given the opportunity for a "home"

Opening America World adoption programs in new countries is a priority of the America World development staff. Researching and developing these programs is a slow and expensive process. Your help will provide families more options in deciding where to adopt as well as provide new homes to countless more children. With your gift, many more children will have the opportunity to grow up in a home and not an institution.

America World Transitional Homes in Ethiopia
405 children given the opportunity for a "home"

Part of America World's work in Ethiopia is to implement development projects for orphans and vulnerable children. One of those projects in rural Ethiopia is to help rebuild a children's home that receives abandoned children from the government. Supporting this project will help these children have an opportunity to find permanent families in both Ethiopia and abroad. Your support will provide basic needs such as daily nutrition, medical treatment, clothes, toys, and 24 hour a day nanny care.

Older Children's Cultural Exchange Program in Ukraine and Russia
459 children given the opportunity for a "home"

America World Adoption is developing a program to bring older orphans, between the ages of 5 and 12, to the U.S. to stay with an America World family like yours. This new hosting program will provide older children in Ukraine (and soon other countries like Russia, Ethiopia, and China) the opportunity to spend two weeks with a prospective adoptive family. Your support can provide an orphan with the opportunity to find a place to call home.

I am super excited about hearing Tom Davis speak and our own founder and president of AWAA Brian Luwis!  But that's not all!!!  Billy and Cindy Foote will be leading worship!! It's going to be awesome! Here is a bit about our guests tonight:

Guest Speakers:

Tom Davis, President & Founder of Children's Hope Chest & Author of Fields of the Fatherless & Red Letters. Brian Luwis, President, CEO & Founder of America World Adoption

Guest Music:
Billy & Cindy Foote, World Renowned Worship Leaders & Songwriters. The Footes penned such songs as, You are My King (Amazing Love)Break Our HeartsI Have a RiverSing to the King, & You Are God Alone (Not a God)

If you can please pray for us and for the night and that hearts will be drawn to the cry of the orphans all around the world.  Thank you!!

Happy, Happy Birthday Lexie!!

Today is my beautiful middle daughter's 16th birthday!! I cannot believe how quickly the time has passed!!

Here is a picture of her at 2. Wasn't she a DOLL-baby!? She has always been such a sweetie pie too. Karl and I have fond memories of her wanting to snuggle up with us in bed. It was a part of our morning ritual.  Snuggle time with Lexie!

Lexie has grown into a beautiful young woman. This is a picture from this past weekend. We had family in town and so it was a perfect time to celebrate Lexie a bit!

Lexie,

You will ALWAYS be my "Baby Girl"!! I love that you don't mind sharing that title with Karleigh Mei. There are so many things that I love about you.

I love your beautiful smile.
I love your desire to always be a light to those who you are around.
I love how you always are respectful of Daddy and I.
I love how you do your chores without complaining (okay...maybe just a WEE bit!). :o)
I love how I find your open Bible on your bed in the mornings (I can never get mad at you for your messy room!).
I love how you don't want anyone to feel left out.
I love that you are such a great friend.
I love that you want me to text you at school if I hear the slightest thing on RQ. :o)
I love how you always make us laugh (sometimes the "pee in your pants kind"!).
I love how much you love your brothers and sisterS. :o)
I love that you call me "Pretty". :o)
I love that you love me!!

My list could go on and on...

I love you Lexie and I could NOT be more proud of you!!!!!

Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!

Love,
"Pretty"

Lexie,

There is nothing that makes me weep on demand more than the thought of my children growing up so fast. It is a bitter sweet emotion. Bitter, in that it is all happening way too fast. Sweet, in that it is all so beautiful. Tears of mourning regarding how fast it all happens and tears of boundless joy all wrapped into one. I am shocked by the grace and beauty that God has allowed me to live among with all four of you and soon to be five. You are the model of beauty passed on by your lovely mother and your abiding relationship with our Savior.

I love you Lexie. Happy Birthday.

Dad

Find Your Wings
by
 Mark Harris

"It's only for a moment you were mine to hold.

The plans that heaven has for you will all too soon unfold.
So many different prayers I'll pray for all that you might do,

but most of all I want to know that you're walking in the truth.

And if I never told you, I want you to know,

that as I watch you grow...

I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams.

And that faith gives you the courage to dare to do great things.

I'm here for you whatever this life brings.

So let my love give you roots, and help you find your wings.

May passion be the wind that leads you through your days.

And may conviction keep you strong and guide you on your way.

May there be many moments that make your life so sweet.

Oh but more than memories...

I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams.
And that faith gives you the courage to dare to do great things.
I'm here for you whatever this life brings.
So let my love give you roots, and help you find your wings.

It's not living if you don't reach for the sky.

I'll have tears as you take off, but I'll cheer as you fly.

I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams.
And that faith gives you the courage to dare to do great things.
I'm here for you whatever this life brings.
So let my love give you roots, and help you find your wings."

Thank You Father...

Waiting for our TA has been more difficult than I thought. I saw this video and it is because of these promises that I feel peace about not being able to be with my girl. Thank you Father for loving her so....

Be sure to quiet my music on the side bar.

Birthday Pictures!!

I can't believe it!! I opened up my email this morning and I had 10 pictures of Karleigh Mei's birthday party!!! What a gift!!

A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes

I had mentioned to a friend how I hoped that Karleigh Mei was dreaming about us, because now she has seen our picture. And this friend said that I should pray that she does have sweet dreams about us! I love this! When I'm awake during the day, my Karleigh Mei is sleeping. I've been praying over her sleep...praying that it is a sweet one....and now I've added to that prayer, that she will be dreaming of us...and longing for us!!

We love you Karleigh Mei...have faith in your dreams and someday SOON your rainbow will come smiling through!!

A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you're fast asleep
In dreams you lose your heartaches
Whatever you wish for, you keep
Have faith in your dreams and someday
Your rainbow will come smiling through
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
the dream that you wish will come true

~Bringing Joel Home~

Kam at "Jason and Kam" is having an AWESOME drawing for some fabulous Vera Bradley bags!! I'm really hoping that I win these as the purse that I'm bringing to China is this same pattern! I'm thinking these would be PERFECT for my trip! BUT...I really, really want to see Kam raise LOTS of money to help bring home her super, precious little Joel home from Thailand--I was blessed enough to get a sneak peek at him.  Trust me, he's aDORable!! So go over to her blog at www.jasonandkam.blogspot.com and "ChipIn"--it's sooooo easy and you'll be such a blessing to an incredibly sweet little family. Oh...and no procrastinating...it ends tomorrow...on November 3rd!!
