The Heralds of Spring in Texas
A couple of years ago, my dad gave me the book, "Heralds of Spring in Texas" by Roland H. Wauer. It's just a fun little book I like to get out and read every spring. In it, the many people throughout (the GREAT) state of Texas who participated, write about what the signs of spring are to them. I like to watch for the signs in my own backyard, that spring is indeed on it's way!
To me, seeing the Oak trees lose their leaves in late February, is the first sign that spring is coming! After the Oak trees lose their leaves, the tiny new green leaves begin to bud. I also look forward to seeing the bluebonnets and all the wildflowers that appear along side the highways (and byways!) and the birds beginning to build their nests!
Oh...I love spring!!
How do YOU know it's spring in your area!? I'd love to hear!

Gannon Birthday Pics {and good sport Lexie}
Monday was Gannon's 15th birthday and so we celebrated Gannon!
Karleigh Mei could barely contain her excitement! She loves blowing out candles and big brother said she could help him!
Singing to him!
Gannon had a present that was too large to wrap. So we had him cover his eyes so that we could bring it out. We had a pretty good idea that it would be best if Karleigh Mei also covered her eyes too. Quite certain as soon as she'd see it, she'd blurt out what it was. :)
Pulling the gift out.
The big reveal. I think Karleigh Mei was just as surprised! :)
Gannon and his new guitar.
My young man. {sniffle, sniffle}
Over the weekend, Lexie was asked by her school girl's varsity softball team if she could fill in for someone who couldn't make it. Lexie is SUCH a sweet girl and didn't have the heart to say no, and so she played.
Way to go Lexie!! You are a good friend and a good sport!!

Happy 15th Birthday Gannon!
15 years ago today, my Gannon was born! We were all so very happy!
Gannon, you have been such a blessing to all who know you! Every year I become more proud of the wonderful young man you are becoming. You love the Lord with your whole heart, soul, and mind. This makes this mama extremely happy and proud! I pray that you will continue to follow after the Lord wherever it may be He is leading you.
I love you Gannon! It's time to celebrate YOU!
And just a side note:
I've had lots of people over the years ask where we got the name Gannon from. Gannon was due on St. Patrick's day and both Karl and I have Irish blood in us. Karl's got Mullally in him and I have McKeon/MacEoin (Sean MacEoin is a distant relative -just a fun history tidbit) in me! We thought it would be fun to give him an Irish name. And so we did! I have yet to ever hear of someone with this name--except as a last name. Are there any other Gannon's out there??

The Pancake Flipper {and Flashback Friday}
Karleigh Mei loves her Daddy and she loves flipping pancakes. How awesome to hang with your daddy AND flip pancakes! :)
This picture was "staged". Karleigh Mei's idea.
The pancake crew!
Flipping pancakes. It's serious stuff.
Enjoying her hard work!
Mom, you STILL taking pictures!?
She's learned that if she just smiles sweetly for the camera, I'll eventually leave her in peace. :)
And sweet flashback Friday! Look at my bitty girl! This was taken about a year ago. Just learning the tricks to flippin' pancakes!
How sweet to have a daddy help you!

Fun At The Zoo {pictures by none other than Jie Jie Lexie}
Yesterday we met up with sweet Matti and her family at the Zoo! Karleigh Mei was so excited about spending the day with her friend! She even gave up her nap for the day! ;)
Look how super CUTE these girls are together! Wish we lived closer and we could get them together more often! And I adore her mama Tonya! We failed getting pics of us together. Next time!
So sweet holding hands!
Precious!
Stopping for a cookie break.
Karleigh Mei doesn't care much for the smells at the zoo. HA!
So happy to spend the day with friends! Hope we can see Matti and her family again!!

Calling All Adoption Bloggers
We are putting a website together that will help those in our area get connected to adoption. It will be a site that answers questions and connects people to agencies. It will also have links to blogs so that others thinking about adoption can read stories of those who have gone before them. If you don't mind us linking to your blog, let me know and we will add yours to the list. Once we have it up and running, I will send you a link to the website!
Thank you!
