Grieving
One of the things that I wish I could do more than anything else, is to understand what is going on in my darling girl's head. To know what she is thinking and what she is afraid of and what she is missing from her previous life would be priceless. She has done SO WELL with her adjustment. Much better than I even dreamed she would. But she is still grieving her loss. For the past two weeks she's been especially testing us. Being disobedient to test us. Test our love for her maybe? I don't know for sure. She has also, for the first time since coming home, awakened in the night. The first night, I could hear her crying (we have a monitor--PRAISE GOD FOR MONITORS!), and I ran in there. She had tinkled in her pants just a TINY little bit, and she was crying uncontrollably. You know the kind where you can't catch your breath. I went in and scooped her out of bed, and she clung to me!! She said she had to go to the potty (Neow Neow), and so I took her. I then held her and told I loved her and that it was okay. It was okay if she had to go potty or that she tinkled in her pants. That morning she woke up and all day long she would repeat to me that she was crying and that she had to go potty and that it was "O'Tay". She has awakened 2 more times during the night with the same scenario.
On Tuesday of this week, we were headed home and she started talking about McDonald's. We have only taken her to McDonald's ONE time and that was when we were in China, but she ALWAYS points out the McDonald's when we pass any of them. In her photo album from the orphanage there are pictures of her at a McDonald's. I'm SURE she remembers this fun time with those she trusted and loved. Soon after talking about McDonald's she started to cry uncontrollably. With tears just streaming down her face. My other children were crying too, because it was so, so, sad!! She cried for about 10-15 min. (we were in traffic heading home) before we reached home. As soon as I could, I grabbed her and held her and told I her I loved her and that it was okay. She could not verbalize to me how she was feeling, but I have a feeling of how she was feeling.
Last night I put pull-ups on her for "just in case". She woke up last night crying. This time she had not tinkled in her pants and her pants were dry. I took her to the bathroom and then took her back to her room and held and told her I loved her and that I was here for her. As I went back to bed after she had snuggled back under her covers, I felt such a heaviness for her. I wish there was a way I could shoulder some of the pain that she is feeling. I love my darling girl to the very depth of my being. I understand her pain and know that it is not something to just shoosh under the rug. That it is very real. And it's "O'Tay" for her to feel this way. I liken it to experiences I've had in my own life. When I was 19, I lost a cat that I dearly loved. I cried for that kitty for YEARS. When I was 29 I lost a dear cousin of mine--the same age as me. And to this day I still mourn the loss of her. Karleigh Mei has gone through the same kind of pain. She may be JUST now realizing that she will probably NEVER see the people she loved in China again.
Please be praying for my girl. Pray that she can feel or understand that the one thing that she has NOT lost is the comfort of God the Father, whom she has ALWAYS had. He has been her ONE constant in her whole life. He formed her precious little body and KEPT His hand on her through her birth and will keep His hand on her forevermore! My prayer is that she learns this truth early on, and that she CLINGS to Him. It's the one thing she will never have to be without....it's the one thing that will never change.
Oh my darling girl....how I love her!

Uganda and a Wedding!
I was looking at my super full calendar today...and realized that I have exactly 1 month and 2 months to prepare for two BIG things that are going on in my life....or well things that are happening to two of my favorite girls. :)
On May 27th my middle daughter, Lexie, is going on a mission trip to Uganda with this special family. She is MORE than excited about going and loving on orphans and telling and SHOWING people the love of Jesus. I took her last week to get all her shots and medications that she needs. Our prayer for our children is simply that they will serve the Lord in whatever they do and that they will listen to His voice when He calls and be obedient to Him. It is NOT an easy thing to do to let your daughter go off to AFRICA. Not easy at all. In fact, I can feel a panic attack coming on me as I type. But the Lord is leading...and we must follow. I put my complete trust in Him alone. My Lexie is His and I put her in His hands. Please join with me in praying for her and for all that are going on this trip--that the Lord will be glorified in all that they do!!
Sigh...

And, 2 months from today, on June 27th, my oldest baby, Katie, will be getting married!!!! Wow!! Where has the time gone!!!? We are so blessed by her and her fiance and we can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for them next!
Here is a picture of Katie and her fiance, Blake.
I love my kids and I could not be more proud of them!! Watching my girls following Jesus in whatever, however, and wherever He leads them is a true blessing.
Sigh...

"Nonnie"
Karl's grandmother, "Nonnie" passed away a week ago today, on Friday, April 17th. Though we were sadden to hear of her passing, we were also rejoicing in knowing that she was in the presence of Jesus!! And I'm sure she was looking for Eve to have a word or two said to! Ha ha!
This is a picture of Karleigh Mei and Nonnie at Christmas. Nonnie was so sweet and so excited when we told her about us adopting Karleigh Mei. When she looked at her, she would just say, "What a joy and a blessing she is!". You are so very right Nonnie!! We look forward to the day when we can be with you again!
The funeral was on Wednesday, April 22. It was beautiful and so many friends and family came! I couldn't resist and took a picture of their old home. This is where Karl spent MANY wonderful summers and had lots of good meals! My kids had a meal or two in that house too!Thursday, April 16, 2009

Good Friday
Luke 23:44-49
"It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, for the sun stopped shining . And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last.
The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, "Surely this was a righteous man." When all the people who had gathered to witness this sight saw what took place, they beat their breasts and went away. But all those who knew him, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things."
The following video is of a song that ALWAYS moves me every Easter. Please remember to quiet my music before watching.

Friends Sweet Friends!
Last night we had the pleasure of meeting a very sweet family! We began following this family on their daughter, Emily's, blog almost two years ago! Wow! That's crazy! It was because of Lexie finding Emily's blog that Lexie started a blog...and then I did. It was also because of this family that peaked my interest in looking at the special needs program. If it wasn't for families like this who blogged about their experience adopting a SN child, I would never have considered it. This is a BIG reason why I continue to blog about our Karleigh Mei. Since we first started following them, they have adopted a 2nd beautiful daughter from China. What a joy it has been to get to know this family through blogging, and what a joy it was to finally meet them in person!!
The Moms, Jie Jie's, and Mei Mei's! What blessed moms we are!!

4 Months Gotcha' Anniversary!
Today marks 4 months since we have had Karleigh Mei in our life. We love her so much and can't even remember what it was like without her! She is a PERFECT fit for our family! This little girl has brought so much ENERGY to our family! Ha! And SO much joy, happiness, laughter, and LOVE!! We love you Karleigh Mei Qian Qian!!
This is a picture I took of our darling girl this morning (she chose the blue bow). Every morning before lunch we go outside and she gets some bike riding in. The weather has been soooo beautiful!! Love this spring weather!!
Can you tell she's totally just standing there...wanting to get the picture taken and be done?
Okay Mom...I said no more...let me ride my bike in peace please!
This morning when I went in to get her, she immediately was telling me that she wanted to put on her "ballerina" dress!! We bought her a pretty dress for Easter and it is a perfect dress to dance in! I love how sleepy she still looks in this picture! My sweet girl!
Here she is dancing in her pretty "ballerina" dress! (It was cold yesterday...so I made her keep her pants on underneath!)

My Girls and The Camera
Karleigh Mei had a CT scan done this morning. It was done just to make sure there is not anything hidden that we are not aware of. All of the doctors that we have seen believe that what we see are the only "issues". She does have a cleft in her super dee-duper cute little nose and will have to have surgery on it when she is about 5. We will just cross that bridge when the time comes. Anywho...we will wait and see what the docs say after this CT scan. We also go to see the eye surgeon tomorrow. I'm anxious to see what he has to say about her eye.
I have to tell you that I am totally in love with all of my children. I am an extremely blessed mama! Lexie is my 16 yr. old and she loves to take pictures of Karleigh Mei (I mean who wouldn't!?). I love these pictures 'cause they show kind of the "background" scenes of a lot of the picture taking of our darling girl. Lexie is a darling girl too and I love her so much!!
Two of my three beautiful daughters...

Another Week Flown By!
Wow...I have been SUCH a bad blogger!! All the pictures below have also been taken by Lexie. It's just been one of those weeks that the days have flown by! Karleigh Mei's eye is continuing to heal. She has an appointment with the eye surgeon on Tuesday, so I'm anxious to see what he has to say about it. Everyday it seems as though she is able to open it up just a little bit more.
She also has a CT scan planned for tomorrow morning. I'm praying that they will not have to sedate her for it. Please pray along with me!
The following pictures were taken this past Friday. We met with an adoption fellowship group Friday evening at a park. Karleigh Mei had SO much fun playing with all of her friends! And I had fun fellowshipping with the parents! :)
My sweet girl!
