Please Pray Like Crazy!
I have a HUGE prayer request. Below is the video of a friend who is in partnership with an orphanage in Haiti. These children are without water and without food and without medical help. I understand that there is a huge controversy about bringing orphans to the US, but THESE children were double orphans BEFORE the earthquake. Is it going to take them to start dying before something is done? Our friend is trying to bring these kids to a place where they can receive the help that they so desperately need. Please be praying that the Lord move the mountains that are keeping them there. We here in the US can not completely understand the MAGNITUDE of the problem there. It's not so easy to "just bring them water. just bring them food. just bring them the medical treatment". They need help. They need help NOW. And to get help now they need to be taken out of Haiti. One of the problems that Haiti had BEFORE the quake, and now it's becoming even worse, is child trafficking. By leaving these orphans there, they are vulnerable and at risk. So please watch the video and join me in prayer!

3rd Eyelid Surgery Tomorrow
My heart is aching with the fact that, today, we have to travel out of town, so that Karleigh Mei can have her 3rd eyelid surgery tomorrow. My head tells me that this is what we have to do. That this is what she, eventually, will be thankful we did. But my heart is hurting that she has to do this again. I know that at the time they will have to take her from my arms and back to surgery, my heart will feel like I have failed her. When she keeps eye contact with me until she is taken back behind those doors, I'm not sure if I can be strong enough to not weep. My sweet girl, how I love her so!!
If you could be praying for her (and for me)---for strength and peace about what is to come.
I thank you in advance for your prayers!! They are felt!!

GIVEAWAY!!
**Bumping this back up**
I'm having my first GIVEAWAY! Yay!!
A couple of months ago I read the book, "Scared" by Tom Davis. I have to say it was a very hard read. Hard because I cannot imagine that what the book is about is really happening. Happening now. Today. I have felt the urgency to share this with others. If we all knew what was happening in Africa, and we did something about it, just a LITTLE something, I believe we could all make such a difference in so many lives.
All you have to do to be entered in the drawing is to just leave a comment on this post. Get your comment in by Wed. January 13, 11:59 pm (central time) and I'll announce the winner on Thursday, Jan. 14th!

Ethiopian Orphans
When we heard Tom Davis speak the night of the Gala in November '08, he said something that I have never been able to shake. He had us picture our own children as orphans. On the streets. Without food. Without a home. Struggling to survive. I can hardly even think about this possibility. It pierces my heart like nothing ever could. But this is exactly how God views the orphan crisis. Those ARE His children. And if I'm one of His children too, doesn't that make me responsible to do something? Aren't we supposed to be HIS hands and feet? At the gala, we were shown this video. And in the faces of these beautiful children, I can't help but see glimpses of my own children.

Children's Hopechest
Have you ever heard of Tom Davis? He is the president and CEO of Children's Hopechest. I had the awesome opportunity to hear him speak at our "Orphan's Ticket Home" Gala just weeks before we left for China to get Karleigh Mei. I love what he is doing through Children's Hopechest and through the books he has written. If you haven't read any of his books, I would highly recommend you do! I am reading "Red Letters" right now, and it is opening my eyes even more to the plight of those living in Africa--especially the children who are effected by the AIDS crisis.
Here is a video done by Children's Hopechest that I had to pass along:
