Lifebook

I have finally started working on Karleigh Mei's Lifebook. A Lifebook is book that tells the story of someone's life. For Karleigh Mei, this book will be very important to her. It will tell her story--well, all that we know of her story. I pray that the Lord directs me as I write out each page.  I pray that I don't leave anything out that will be important for her to know. It will be a book that we can read together....or one she can read by herself....filled with pictures of her as a baby and pictures of her and her family here at home. I pray it will spurn questions she wants to ask about her past, and an openess to her whole adoption story. I never want her to think we are hiding anything. I want her to be FULL in the knowledge of who she is. That the Lord made her and that He loves her. That no matter her past, He has always had a plan for her life and nothing was or is a mistake.

About the same time that I had started working on her Lifebook, Karleigh Mei started watching the movie Annie. Karleigh Mei LOVES singing and dancing, and this movie has them both--and it's kids singing and dancing too! She loves it so much, that we now have the soundtrack and listen to the music in the house and in the car. We are singing Annie songs all. day. long. We've even added it to our songs we sing before she goes to bed.

I do love how the Lord works in my life. :) As I've been filling my mind with how to write out her story and what I should and shouldn't include, sweet Annie songs have been playing in the background. Songs of a little girl wondering who her parents are and the longing she has so deep in her heart for them~no matter who they are. Songs of a little girl wanting something or someone constant and consistent in her life, someone who will love her for who she is, even if it is a dog. Songs of a little girl being amazed at a life she had no idea existed. Songs of an adult introducing a little one to the wonders outside an orphanage. Songs of an adult falling in love with a little girl they never knew they'd fall in love with so quickly and easily. Songs of a little girl and an adult filled with sadness that they would have to say good-bye. And my favorite one is the song at the end of the movie.  Songs of pure joy that a child is now their child and the child now has a daddy!  Wow! All of these song are each a part in some way, of Karleigh Mei's life story! And each one of them are equally important to be included in her Lifebook.

Here are the lyrics to that last song:

Together at last!
Together for ever!
We're tying a knot,
They never can sever!

I don't need sunshine now,
you turn my sky to blue.
I Don't Need Anything But You!

You've wrapped me around
that cute little finger.
You've made life a song!
You've made me the singer!

And what's the bathtub tune
you always "Bu-Bu-Boo?"
Bu-Bu-Bu-Bu-Bu-Bu but you!

Yesterday was plain awful.
You can say that again?
Yesterday was plain awful!

But that's,
not now,
that's then!

I'm poor as a mouse,
I'm richer than Midas!
But nothing on earth,
could ever divide us!

And if tomorrow,
I'm an apple seller too:
I don't need anything anything anything....
I Don't Need Anything But...

So now back to writing her Lifebook. I have no doubts that the Lord will continue to lead me to write and include what needs to be included!

It sounds wonderful! Karleigh Mei will be so blessed to have this book.

I listened to a sermon last night by Francis Chan. It was excellent, challenging and encouraging! Thanks again for the suggestion.

Blessings,
Sarah

I love your new blog design!! Did Lexie design it?

Maylie hasn't seen Annie yet, but I always liked to watch that movie when I was growing up! We like the Disney version. Another movie (and book) that I have always LOVED is Anne of Green Gables. (funny how Anne and Annie are both so similar: cheerful red-headed orphan girls who get adopted!) It's one of our favorites! :)

Hey girl. Being home has been great. I can't believe how easy Ruthie is. She is so content and hardly ever fusses.

On the mexican food question- yes I gave her beef and cheese nachos in the austin airport and she LOVED them. We fed her steak and baked potatoes last night and she thought that was pretty good too. I bet she will gain 5 lbs this month with the way she is eating.

Good for you for starting the lifebook. You will have to tell me all about it sometime. Right now I am still unpacking though. :)
