Lexie and her "Black Beauty"

Last week Karl took Lexie down to the DPS and she got her long-awaited driver's license. Remember her passing her final driving test to Big Bend* and back?!

Years ago Karl bought a Karl (ha ha...just reread that...I mean CAR) for himself, with the intention of passing it down to the kids. Katie was the first to inherit the "Black Beauty". Katie drove her for 4 years. For Katie's 21st birthday we bought her a newer car, and kept the Black for Lexie. So for 1.75 years the Black has been waiting and dreaming of being driven again.

Today Lex drove off this morning, for the first time, with brothers in tow, off to school. sniffle. sniffle. Where have the years gone!?

This weekend was spent cleaning up "The Black".

Gannon helping. 'Cause one day this Beauty will be his! :) Can you see the excitement and joy in Lex's face!?
Ewwwwww!
Stopping for some snuggle time!
Muy importante things to have....air freshner and gum. :)
The cleaning supplies.
Dad and Gannon helping to shine 'er up!
Going over things NOT to do while driving...

Don't be a wild driver...
Don't check yourself out while driving...
Talking on the phone is a BIG no-no!! Especially while checking yourself out in the mirror!!
What to do??

Wear your seatbelt and smile your beautiful Lexie smile!

She does have the best smile. I have seen it in person and it lights up a room. Just a beautiful girl inside and out and so happy she gets to drive around and feel like a big girl cause it's so much fun.. Remember how fun it is! Yahoo go Lex.

What a great tradition! Josh is 16as well still learning to drive. He's a pretty good driver, so far. Isn't it scary to see them drive off? I enjoyed your pictures.

How hard was it to watch the taillights as she left the driveway?
Lexie has a smile to remember!

They grow up so fast! Starting over with a new little one is no big deal when you understand how quickly the time will pass!

Lexi does how an awesome smile!

Such a cute post! Lexie is a great model... with a GREAT sense of humor to boot!! I love that girl! :) And there is nothing like a good ol' family car to pass down. Oh how I remember the days when I was in the driver's seat and my dad was 'patiently' teaching from the passenger side!! The years just fly by, don't they!?!

Have a blessed week! <><

Sweet post Jen! Lexie looks so excited! It's so hard to let them drive . . . on the other hand, she taxis her brothers (and herself) to school, and you and KM can wave goodbye--in your jammies if you want! I always liked that aspect of my new drivers . . . they're always eager to make a milk run too! :)

Love the story of "The Black".

Blessings~
