The Heralds of Spring in Texas

A couple of years ago, my dad gave me the book, "Heralds of Spring in Texas" by Roland H. Wauer. It's just a fun little book I like to get out and read every spring. In it, the many people throughout (the GREAT) state of Texas who participated, write about what the signs of spring are to them. I like to watch for the signs in my own backyard, that spring is indeed on it's way!

To me, seeing the Oak trees lose their leaves in late February, is the first sign that spring is coming! After the Oak trees lose their leaves, the tiny new green leaves begin to bud. I also look forward to seeing the bluebonnets and all the wildflowers that appear along side the highways (and byways!) and the birds beginning to build their nests!

Oh...I love spring!!

How do YOU know it's spring in your area!? I'd love to hear!

Well usually by now we know it is Spring in T b/c it is getting warmer. BUT … this year it is still frigid! Wah!

Actually it is 38 degrees tonight and chance of snow tomorrow?! Not typical for sure. I am READY for some signs of spring!

The redbud trees get really pretty! Bluebonnets on the side of the highway. All the trees get pretty little green speckles all of over them of new growth!

Hi Jenn,
Love reading your blog and keeping up with your family. Although we have never met and you probably didn't realize that I have been "stalking" you via the internet...hehe :) We share something special in our love for our little China princesses. I have been following your blog since you got your referral for Karleigh.
We live a suburb of the Twin Cities in MN and I saw my first "I know it's Spring" moment this week when the Bluebirds returned to their nest in our backyard. They are so fun to watch.

Just havin' fun catching up on your blog! Your photos are so great, and I'm always inspired by your family!

Karleigh Mei just becomes more beautiful every day!

And OH how I MISS the spring wildflowers in Texas. There's nothing like it - though we do have lots of blooming trees and lilac bushes in these parts. But not til May! April showers really do bring the May flowers around here. (Snow on Easter can be a real bummer! Not this year, though - I don't think!)
