Fun At The Zoo {pictures by none other than Jie Jie Lexie}

Yesterday we met up with sweet Matti and her family at the Zoo! Karleigh Mei was so excited about spending the day with her friend! She even gave up her nap for the day! ;)

Look how super CUTE these girls are together! Wish we lived closer and we could get them together more often! And I adore her mama Tonya! We failed getting pics of us together. Next time!

So sweet holding hands!

Precious!

Stopping for a cookie break.

Karleigh Mei doesn't care much for the smells at the zoo. HA!

This is Karleigh Mei's favorite part of the zoo. Brushing the goats!

So happy to spend the day with friends! Hope we can see Matti and her family again!!

We had such a great time to. You have such a great Family Jenn. Oh and Matti played with that phone on the way home and after we got home she pushed the right button and we heard your sweet karleighs voice. She just smiled and so did we. I just loved loved loved her sassiness and energy. What a great girl. And so very sweet. Thank yall for the great time:)

Jenn,

Cute pictures (again!!).

We're using Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons for reading for Grace. I've used it with all of my kids and I love it!!

For math, we have a 100 chart and have a number of the day. I use an abacus to teach place value, and then do the activities on the number cards.

I just improvise everything else. We talk about the months, days of the week, etc. on a regular basis, we read a lot, play games (Zingo and Memory are her favorites), we paint, draw, glue and cut things out and do lots of puzzles.

She wouldn't be in kindergarten this year because her birthday is in October. But, we're mainly doing kindergarten stuff.

I've used 5 in a row with some of my other children, and we'll probably use that next year.

I like to keep it really simple in the early years (eg. no formal math or spelling until at least 6 or 7). It's worked well with my other kids. I did try My Father's World 1st Grade with Jadon, but didn't like it at all. I use My Father's World starting in 3rd grade and love it, but just didn't like the early curriculum.

So...that's a REALLY long answer to your question!

Many blessings,
Sarah

I do not blame KM ONE bit for not liking the smells - me neither, sister!!

So sweet to see the little girls together, doing the important things in life - like holdings hands & sharing a snack! We could learn something from them!
